Back from the edge Aug. 20-21

Fished the break near the Middle grounds. Very slow for most of us out there lately.

The troll was dead for us. All are fish came from the night bite. We managed 7 small yellows to 30pounds through out the night, And a nice size sword that we landed. She took the sword bait 150 feet down with a strobe light and live squid that was put on 3 minutes before she hit.

Lots of bait around the boat threw out the night. We did not see any life out there at all not one whale, turtle, porpoise etc.....NOTHING

On the way home we went to go try the 600square to see if we could pull something out of there. We spotted about a 40 foot long tree floating so we motored over there and was filled with mahi. Stayed there for an hour to cast to some mahi and loaded up.

Beautiful days out there wish the fishing was a little better lets hope the bite turns wide open soon. I was planning to make another run to the edge tommorow but i dont think its worth heading back out there again any time soon.

Photos and some cool video footage to come soon.

Thanks for the post. I will be heading out this weekend and I am looking for info. I will submit a report.

Were you up on the flats or were you on the edge during the night?

I spoke to a friend who got back late Thurs 8/21 from a lousy overnighter from Hudson to fishtales and East . Only two yellows (and lots of mahi) to show for it. He said mostly everyone out there did just as crappy.

Hey Welcome Capt. Denny!

My friend Bob ("Striker" Russ's nephew) has mated for you before

How's the new boat? I live across the street from Rick Mello, and he was telling me about your new Wesmac

Hey, At least you caught something. We were at the Dip A few days ago and got nothing on the troll. Had 5 small yellows on the chunk bite at night. Had squid almost all night around the boat. No Mahi near the edge, found some on fliers on the way back from 65-50 fathoms.

Thanks Blake

It is what it is and you call it correct.

We went another direction and while the fishing may have been tough the Freak Parade was priceless
