CC BAY 8/13/08**Video and Photos**

SWC/PH 8/13-8/14 I am on the road right now, in Green Harbor for the week. Sucks staying in a hotel for the week, but beats the 1.5 hour commute each way, and the fuel bill to go with it!!Wed. was a perfect morning. Light breezes, small chop to start, and an eager, experienced crew from Angler's Pro Shop in Brooklyn. This is a top notch specialty store, dealing in many custom and hard to find lures, rods, reels, and jigs. These guys fish HARD, all over the world, and makes this type of run and gun tuna fishing a real joy, knowing my only job is to get the boat around some fish...they do the rest.We started off on the SWC, and poked around here and there amongst the whales and many opther boats. There were just too many boats trolling to stcick around and hope these fish would come up...not gonna happen with all the noise up top!We decided to blast over to PH atrea, and were pleased with the amount of bait, birds, and lack of trollers so we stuck there for the remasinder of the day, except for a foray about 6 miles north, thanks to some intercepted sailboat chatter...it went something l;ike" Lopok at all the pretty whales, joyce, over...Yeah, and what are all those fish??....Well, joyce, Henry says it looks like tuna....It was about a half second later we decided to blast out there, and it paid off BIG TIME. We arrived to find 1 Downeast trolling, and a couple of sailboats in the distance. There were birds everywhere, and hungry tuna crashing the surface, and staying up for me. Put the boat right into the mix, and two of my 3 guys came tight instantly. Both anglers worked these fish expertly, and had the first fish to the boat in 8 minutes on a Stella 20K and custom Pro-Angler's custom rod, fish hit the deck at a respectable 60.5 inches, roughly 140 pounds or so, ansd we then focused on the second fish, which was taking much longer....we thought maybe another biggun, but after 20 minutes the fish came into view with the rear trtewble in its mouth, and the middle treble stuck into its side...foul hooked 58 inch fish quickly released after the prolonged battle.WE then headed back in towards the beach, and had a ton of very short, 2-4 fish eruptions that would quickly die, and upon arriving at the scene, nothing under the boat but bait and bubbles...Got on a promising area, and quickly marked a nice school at 30 feet. Sammi, owner of the shop and world travelling angler, hooked into his second fish of the day, taped at 59 inches, and released to fight another day. These fish took HUGE poppers, a trend that seems to continue this year. We had several hiots that didnt come tight, and more than few blues from 2 pounds up to 15 plus bruisers. We also had a hooked 2 pound blue get eaten off the popper right at the boat by a good sized fish, as well as a monster bluefin in the 1000 pound range? come up right near the boat, along with a basking shark! Quite the day out on the water. FAC the entire afternoon and ride home. Final Tally:3 for 3 on BFT, 6 or 7 half assed swipes from fother tuna, too many blues, and a bunch of happy, tired anglers.Today was whole different story, thus the early report. Had KILSONG and crew drive up from Jersey, got off the dock early at 4:445, and made excellent time to the SWC, until we were about 1 mile short, the port engine quits and alarms start singing....WTF Onboard oil pump failure, limp home on 1 engine, and unable to find alternate boat for my guys....this tyupe of thing absolutely sucks, no warning, no way to fix it, but everyone gets screwed....Of course I get to the closest mercury guys, and they find it is a simple sending unit failure, but by this time it is 10 am, andf the part wont be here till afternoon.....SORRY GUYS, but I will make it up to you with a discount trip ASAP....maybe them fish were just plain scaredI cant upload from here, but was finally able to man my camera for a change, as the anglers were self sufficient. Pics to follow Friday night when I get back. Out again tommorrow....god willin...Heres some video of the double hook up, pics to follow tommorrow when I get home!YouTube - Anglers-proshop cape cod 13th aug

Jahootie,

Kil fishes with me all the time, and you are right, he has some awesome jigging rods, but is totally into popping for them as well. He is just as good at that as he is at jigging.

He jigged up two swords in one night on my boat last September, simply an amazing accomplishment.

He also is probably the biggest tackle junkie I know, and is in fact opening his own specialty jigging and popping store, due to be opened in September!
