Cool The Day I met Tuna Meltdown

As told by Alex.....AKA Satans Chariot.
After getting off the boat back in BBay on Friday nite, I gave Tuna Meltdown a call to see what his plans were for the remainder of the weekend. Having a free schedule for another 9 days, and an invite to fish with Dan, I was there.

So I met up with Dan and his parents in Marina Bay at about 8am on Saturday morning. We loaded his arsenal of gear and iced the sled.

Left the dock and maybe went about half a mile before he looks at us and says, "Did anyone remember the white plastic bag?"

No reply, so he asks me if I think we should go back and get it. Turns out it was the best decision we made. So 20 min later we are running out to the Wagon at 30kts. white plastic bag in hand.
We discussed the spread we were going to run and his dad and I went about getting things ready.

Dan lets out the right long on an Accurate 665 w/ Trevalla rod, with the now infamous "Stellwagon Secret Weapon". I did the same on the left long.

Dan drops a black and purple bar out on the right short on an Accurate 50w bent butt, I follow suit with the Satan Stick Tiagra with the PTown special, ( I dont know why, but it made me feel Special hahaha)

Time passed= 4 min

As I am dropping the last bar down the middle, Dan and I both watch the Right Long pop the clip and click off about a 2 sec burst. A few blank expressions followed by a few "NOF*CKINWAYDIDWEJUSTGETTIGHTINUNDER5MIN", and Dan says grab it.

Hands on the rod and first run starts. Still kinda stunned/confused. Rod starts to straighten and crankin gets easier. I uttered the words bluefish.

Pretty sure the fish heard me questioning its manhood, cause he then proceeds to peel off about 200ft of line. Now the cursing starts cause we were trolling these things WTFB, almost 150 yards or more behind the boat, and we both realize this thing has a sh*tload of line out.

No matter, Dan running the boat, we finally get vertical on it after a bit of time.

Dans mom is playing with my camera and I tell her to just start blasting when we see color.

Now after the amount of time we have spent working this fish and the drag pressure Ive had on it, Dan and I are both starting to think BIG. Dan grabs the 'Poon and clears some stuff out to open up the playing field.

First pass on the boat and we both think we might have a 70"+

Fish doesnt like the boat so immediately rips a quick 100-150 ft off. Get him back to the leader and we start to get it set.

Dan hits it with the 'Poon and drives it straight out the other side, Button Holed. DEAD FISH

It was only then that we finally got a firm look at him. Taped at 59.5" but was just silly thick.

After a sick day on the water, Dan asks me if I want to do it again. As if that invite wasnt enough, he sugar coats the deal by telling me we would be hosting his lady friend and another guest. After the adventures on Seaker two days prior, I jumped on the opportunity

The night entailed me going to a friends grad party just north of Boston, and as Shoe reported, I was in good hands. (only one pic from that event and unfortunately cant be posted up)

The next morning, I found myself in Marina Bay for round 2.
We made our way to the Wagon again on a mission to show the girls some whales, then find ourselves some tuna.

Found whales soon as we got there. But the tuna were a different story.

Gotta thank Dan and his parents again for lettin me bum a ride with them, and lettin me get tight on a porker.

Pics from day 2 to follow

Round 2 is definitely in the works...
