Debris in Block Island Sound

Hi All,
For those transiting Block Island Sound whether heading to fish BI, Montauk, or to the offshore arena, be warned that there are some SERIOUS amounts of debris- logs, trees, floating line, (I saw a refrigerator), etc. floating on or just under the surface that will most definitley spoil your day.
Two years ago, I ran over two subsurface tractor tires/bumpers that had fallen off a barge and screwed my hull. The damage was labled normal wear and tear by the insurance company's adjuster.
While we're on the topic of potential damage to your boats and insurance claims.. be aware that if you are insured by St. Paul Fire & Marine/Travelers that they do not honor their obligations and will find every exemption to put it to you when it comes time to make a claim as evidenced from not only my experience, butqutie a few others that we came across during the course of the ensuing battle.

Thanks for the info. The rivers seem to be dumping a lot debris lately. I ended up doing some serious research on insurance after hearing about your situation a couple of year ago. I ended up switching companies as quickly as I could after find out what I wasn't cover for. Good to see you fishing out of that Beal now; very nice fishing platform.
