Hello, newbie member here. Love the posts you guys have been putting up. Im a green horn on the offshore circuit, I know just enough to be dangerous. I was wondering what recommendations you have for forecasting water temp conditions before you head out. | ||

| My suggestion would be to get a subsrcription to one of the Sea Surface Tempature websites, there are a few of them some will even plot fishing reports onto the charts. I personally use Oceantemps.com pretty cut and dry but it gets me the info I am looking for. Once you have a subscription use it. I look at it daily to watch which direction different bodies of water are moving. When the time comes for a trip I look for at least a finger of warm water which is attached to a main Eddy. The second thing I look for is if there are any of these fingers that are attached to an Eddy and are over some sort of bottom structure. Sometimes the whole Eddy will push up on the edge as it is right now out around the fishtail and dip. Looking at charts from yesterday it is dead sexy out there, and Riptides report proves it. I also keep a print out of every chart from the day I go fishing and add it to my journal, helps me recognize good water. | ||
