Due to the weather forecast, I had no choice but to call in "fishing" to work today. Good choice.

The seas were dead flat, and it felt down right balmy for November fifth. so calm and windless that it was almost erie, it just doesnt make sense this time of year. but who am I to bitch, it made for a a super comfortable ride out at 32 knots to the swc.

we were greeted by birds, whales and 15 others already set up and on the troll. 5 black bars went out, along with a marauder. it didnt take long for our first swipe and miss, And then another, WTF!! we broke away from the fleet a bit, and then the left long rigger gets crushed big time.

this fish gives me a hell of a fight, lots of circling under the boat requiring ALOT of trick boat manuevering. I didnt want to lose this one, so called for the poon. Hell, I bought the thing and havent had a decent excuse to use it, so Joe gets a chance to let some steel fly. He sticks the fish with force, in one side and out the other. perfect shot.
She gets roped off the transom and the rigs go back out, but things have quieted down a bit, and thats the only action we see for the day.

This bitch was FAAAAAAT, and looks like a beast in the pics. (Dom I had to steal your famous pose for this one) The ride in was as smooth and fast as the ride out. And like "on the edge" said, I couldnt ask for a better way to end the season.

Fred,

Great job on the fish you seem to have it down pretty good, I need to get back out a few more times soon once the weather breaks. I also need to get some haddock in the freezer also. Once again another awesome report.

Dave
