I have a feeling you are going to see quite a few 49"-54" fish this year.....just a hunch. The sand eels in RI sound and up on Stellwagen were THICK all last week, and the herring were in with em.......

Dom, i think we're all hoping that...there were so many fish in the 40-46" range last year that if they are all growing on schedule, we should all be eating sushi all summer...

I think the 27" to 47" fish is ridiculous. Too small let them grow up a bit. Really a 27" fish doesn't yield all that much meat. I wish it was 50 or 52" and 2 per trip.

Just because the limit says 1 fish between 27"-47" does not mean that we have to keep them. I personally will be tagging the schoolies and keeping the larger fish for the table

i agree that 27 seems small. however, i like having the option as throwing back any fish that was mortally wounded during the fight sucks. i would rather eat a 30" fish that is hooked through the eye and bleeding like crazy than throw him back and watch him sink. i also agree with the thought that these are the laws (or proposed laws anyway), telling us what we are allowed to take, but there is no law saying you have to take any fish if you want to see him swim away.

Right on Chainsaw as we know tuna like to bleed and even the smallest superficial wound can be enough to kill a schoolie.
