NWC Report 8/4

Left the dock at 4:30 AM on a buddies boat. Took our time through Gloucester Harbor as we watched the beautiful lightening show out past the weather buoy. Figuring the storm was moving out, we kept our course heading for the NWC of Stellwagon.

4 bar spread in the water at 5:30. Marked some bait, great whale show, but no hook up's. Trolled till 10:00 am then started our troll back to the barn. Lots of weeds & debris floating out there.

About 4 miles off the corner saw jumpers crashing the surface. As fast as they came up they went back down. Worked that area for an hour or so, then headed in.

The wind changed sat. night out of the N/NW. Heard at the dock today it was a rough one out there. Decided to go pull a buddies bug traps instead.

Overall great mornings on the water, and great whale show.

A lot of the same.

Went out Sat am to the nwc and a lot of the same. Marked a lot, but not much happening. Trolled down to the LL's and back with one nice striper to show, which was released.

Went out Sunday with a couple friends(don't fish much). Late start @ 10 am. Great whale show and a lot of bait. Marked fish everwhere from 30-60 feet down. Could not get anything to come up. Had one taker on the gm daisey chain, but let go @ 4pm.

What type of set up do people use when jigging for tuna?? Heard a few fish were taken on Saturday in the am on jigs?

Thanks!

I've used my regular old cod outfits for jigging tuna. I fish 80# braid on those set-up's. Actually had one on once on a cod jig. I didn't know what I had till the run off.

A little rougher Sunday AM? Also heard on the radio Sun. afternoon that a guy had his 130 spooled.
