Thumbs down NWC Today 9/14

Left Marina Bay at 4:00 AM heading for the NWC. FAC run in the dark, sun up the seas started to build 2-4 plus some...........

Marked fish everywhere at all depths, tons of bait, whales working everywhere but no "knockers" Seas continued to build to a sloppy and tight 4-7 feet. Mid morning we found a tuna on the surface pounding very small bait. Tried casting small metals at them, poppers, then worked the area with white Hoggy's but no takers. Seas were starting to tighten and turning very steep so we headed for the barn.

Got the snot pounded out of us but it was still a day on the water.......

Yesterday we had calmer conditions but it sounded like the fishing was the same for the both of us. Lots of bait, tuna marks on the sounder and whales but no knockdowns. I think we can blame the FULL MOON for screwing up the bite this weekend.

Whos boat were you on out of Marina Bay? Thats where I am out of.

Dan,
We trailered and launched at the ramp that's just up the channel............

Nice area, but is lit up a Christmas tree at 4:00 AM I'm a newbie to that area.........

Not sure anyone did anything today.........we had a fish bust right off the transom, but had no interest in the rubber.........

They were on real small bait, not sure what it was............

Lost one at the boat.

We were out there this morning. Trolled a little south of the fleet and had the rigger go about 9am. Hit a 10" ronz. Didn't even know he was hooked at first and I thought it was a blue, but once it realized what was going on it took half the spool on the 50. Little challenging getting it to the boat in the seas. I got my hand on the leader and the fish took off under the boat and then nothing... Line snapped above the leader. Tough to get a size on it but looked like a nice fish. I think a harpoon may be my next purchase. We trolled a little longer, but realized even if we hooked up there was no way we were getting it in the boat as waves were occasionally coming over the bow. Long ride home...

Edgewater I think we were heading in about the same time as you.......we were in a 23' Palm Beach..........I think you we're behind us heading up the channel then split behind the island?? You'll get em next time

It was definitely a water over the bow kind of day................

Dan I like the slug-go/Hoggy thing just gotta fine tune it a bit........ Thx. for that

That was us and yes, that was not a fun ride. Between the pouring rain, 3-5 foot seas, and taking a few waves over the bow it was a beating. It was almost worth it though...
