| Both the inline planer rig, and dedicated planer rod rig are sweet setups. Thanks for posting the links for the inline setup Terry. Wahoonbox makes it look easy..

| My guess would be the "Meat" Islander balyhoo combo. Might even try a small mack in the spring before the bluefish invade the area.

| I run a Horse Ballyhoo with a Islander or a 3oz. Sea Witch with Ballyhoo for the Bluefin.... On the in-line system I have run the Bally-Islander or The Rubber skirt Bally combo.... Also last week I caught a nice pair of Wahoo's using a 12" 5oz. Jet Head on the in-line planer.. I think a Green Machine would work great also, I will give it a try this week.... If your trying for the Wahoo a 6ft. piece of #9 wire seems to eliminate cutoffs... Capt Mike | ||

| Going to run a planer this year for the first time. Either going to try a ilander blue/white with a hoo or a Braid Marauder. Have heard nothing but good things about these combos for NE waters. Hopefully I will have a report come June. | ||

| Mike - Any opinion on smaller reels with smaller planer? I'm not too familiar with the old salty's yet but I understand there a a few different sizes. And the size of the planer correlates to the amount of drag the reel can pull. Right now my biggest reel is a fifty and as everyone else the budget is tight, just wondering. Thanks | ||

| Bryan I have found even with smaller planers there is so much drag that a 80 is really needed... I think Shimano's LRS 50 has a beefed up drag close to a 80's.... Plus with the drag cranked up so much on a 50 you would not have free spool..... Just my opnion...... | ||
