RELENTLESS Three Day Tuna Report

Once again I need to appologize about the lack of detailed reports I have been provideing. It is due to a very busy schedule and trying to conduct maitntenance and still get things done around the house. I still have many reports to put up on my own site from the past month.

On Sunday I conducted a shared charter for tuna fishing and had on board repeat customer Al Fichera and his son Joseph. They fished with us about a month ago having a spectacular day on the water landing tuna including Joseph's mom who decided to sit this trip out. Coming in from Rhode Island was Captain Bob Masse of Fishtale Charters who has fished for cod and haddock with us before and was a great help on this trip. We also had on two fine youg men by the name of Tom Dowd (NBS Member Young1) from Sudbury and his 13 year old brother Collin.

After getting the lines out on Stellwagen Bank's SW corner in the middle of the parking lot we hooked up early and lost the first fish of the day. A short time later, a nice fish hit the bart run from the port rigger and Collin was geing to fight his first BlueFin Tuna. As Bob was reeling the starboard rig in, the black spreader bar was hit and now we had doubles on. We ended up landing both fish with Bob's being 47 inches and Colin's 49". The bite was over early however we were all treated to a spectacular whale and porpoise show. I am sure I will see these guys again and enjoyed every minute of this trip.

On Monday we had on board repeat customer Todd McMahon and his crew form Bluewater for a day of tuna and sriped bass fishing. After arriving on the bank and getting the lines out it was not long before our first angler landed a nice school tuna which hit a black squid bar.

Later in the day with far less boats around the Shimano 50 was screaming a fish exploded on the rig. It was now Mike's turn to be on the rod. After a quick battle he brought to gaff a round 48" bluefin tuna which was going to go on the grill. Mike loves to fish and had this tuna in the boat in a short period of time.

Once the tuna bite quieted down we headed over to Race Point and trolled and jigged for striped bass and blue fish with Todd landing the largest striped bass of the day.

Once again, it was an awesome trip with this crew and Todd inquired about a fall ground fishing expedition in the fall. I look forward to seeing them back on board Relentless once again.

On Tuesday we fished with Luke Hass and his brother Collin and sister Katie from Kansas. They were in Marshfield visiting and decide to get out fishing along with Pat Mostyn. We departed Green Harbor Marina early and arrived on the bank shortly after sunrise observing numerous whales feeding on sand eels. After the lines were out the port rig was hit and Luke did a fantastic job landing his 47 1/2 inch BlueFin Tuna.

Later on in the day the starboard rigger went pop and we were off to the races again and thirteen year old Colin was on the rod. He reeled and expertly fought this fish until Greg brought it to gaff to end the day. It was obvious to these two brothers they were not in Kansas anyomre.

It was nice job with a crew of four young men and woman on board who enjoyed being underway fishing.

It is now time to hit the rack and do it again in a few hours. Once again I appologize about the lack of reports and will keep everyone a better informed of fish being landed from the decks of the RELENTLESS.

Respectfully,

Captain Dave Waldrip

Day 4 Report Coming Soon

Relentless had another nice day on the water fishing for BlueFin Tuna on Stellwagen nect to B Pink. We landed two decent size fish early in the AM and Capt Curt who was our extroidanary mate will post a detailed report with photos. If anyone is interested we will be running shared trips on Monday, Tuesday and possibly next Sunday to fish for Stellwagen Bank Tuna. The bite will last into early October at best guess. If interested in one of these tips, please e-mail me directly.

Respectfully,
