RELENTLESS TUNA REPORT FOR THIS AM

Today we decided to head out and try our luck with some school bluefin fishing prior t the gale that is suppose to blow in late this afternoon. Fishing aboard the RELENTLESS today was a good friend Ken from Marshfield, my son Shaun who is one of our captains and me. We left Green Harbor Marina in Marshfield at 0600 and were on the grounds by 0715 setting out a three rod spread with black bars. Birds were working the large patches of bait in e area which was being driven to the surface and fish crashing on them. It was only about 10 minutes when a fish took a swipe at the starboard bar and missed. He came around again and missed again. About five minutes later a fish took down the starboard bar and RELENTLESS was now tight with a school bluefin tuna. As Shaun was reeling in the port rod, a fish grabbed the bar and now we were doubled up. I reeled in the center rod and did some maneuvering while Ken and Shaun kept dancing and changing spots in the cockpit as the fish crossed several times. Ken’s fish was now close to the boat about 20 yards away when the hook pulled. Oh well, the fish won this battle. Shaun worked his fish for about 7 more minutes when Ken took a nice short with the gaff and pulled the 58” fat bluefin aboard.

After stating congratulations it was time to see if we could hook another for Ken to put one into the RELENTLESS cockpit. After about ten minutes into the troll the starboard rigger gets slammed and Ken is back at it once again. After about a 20 minute battle, ken landed a big butterball that was 59” but the girth was massive. After stowing all of the gear we headed back home and cut up our fish into steaks for friends, family and neighbors to enjoy. We were back to the dock by 10:00 AM and looking forward to the next trip this week aboard RELENTLESS.
