Did you see the guys on Sportfishermen on the 2520. 94" BFT they used a cumalong attached to the rocket launcher to winch it over the transom.

Great trip John!

My wife and I had the pleasure of fishing with Marty (Wahoonbox) on his Grady, while were on vacation......we were in NC for a few days of our east coast driving trip in October.....caught Wahoos and Cudas

Marty and Jane invited us to stay with them, which we did for 2 nights. Unbelievable southern hospitality!

I can't remember where I saw it, but some guy in a small 20 something cc had some kind of see-saw contraption to get the giants in the boat. He would winch it up the ramp and then tip it into the boat.

He was a comm fisherman, so presumably he didn't beat the fish up in the process.

I'd love to catch one first. I can figure out how to boat it later.

Giant on HC Canyon

John,
Congrats on the GBFT. That must have been the thrill of a lifetime.
I really enjoyed the video, felt like I was in the boat!
Were you trolling? and what did it hit?
Thanks for sharing the report and photos.
Craig

I do believe that that boat fishes with it's fenders out for most of the day....at least on a given sunday when our fish fouled their gear. It was a bummer, nobodies fault really, just bad luck. we lost the fish and they got their skirt back.....HC CANYON.....got to see me in f---factor fourteen mode....funny ain't it?

different boats have different policies....most skippers make a consensual agreement upfront. Typically somthing like a fish over 73" is sold and the crew/owner divy the profit but the charter is a refunded. I have never been in that position on either end, but somtimes people get bummed.

FWIW, this trip was not a charter, but rather just Frank and I fishing with a friend. These guys work their tails off for these fish. It's a tough couple of months trying to make ends meet.
