| Eight or nine giants confirmed, rumors of a few more. There have been footballs caught although they are not very abundant yet, mostly from Acid barge area to Coxes ledge, for over a month now. The bonita and mushies are thick closer to the mainland the last week....

| hmm...how woudl i go about catching said giant? i have never caught a tuna over 100 lbs. i dont even know how to target a giant. have people been chunking and baiting with live bluefish over here, or trolling giant squid bars? | ||

Most of the successful giant fisherman will kite fish with a live blue, keeping the baits at the surface is the key, especially if the doggies are thick. Chunking is another successful method employed frequently, using fresh, big butterfish. Trolling would be my last choice if specifically targetting giants, although some guys do very well with this tactic. Trolling certainly increases your odds at smaller tunas, especially the 40-60 inch size which seem very willing to bite trolled lures this year. But again, specifically seeking giants I would go with live bluefish were it me.

Going to troll around tomorrow close in for BlueFin Tuna on the 30' Blackwatch "Thunderbolt" channel 68. Do not want to go all the way to the edge for YellowFin Tuna. Too far for a day trip. Will give a report when I get back. Hopefully I have some sushimi stuck in my teeth and it does not taste like bluefish!!! | ||

| Got a couple nice BlueFin Tuna and a knockdown from a BFT(did not know enough to hit the squid with the hook in it)and a rat a couple miles SE of the Suffolk Wreck in 200' of water. 66.6 degrees. Green machine spreader bar and a purple squid spreader bar. Weather man was wrong. There was no wind. | ||
