Hi JD,

Thanks, I have put a ton of work into her over the past year, and she is finally where I want her, now I just have to get through the next 2 1/2 months!!

I like the eastern canyons myself, especially Hydrographer, although it is a run for me(134nm), it has paid dividends with some nice early season swords, as well as a few good YFT sessions on the day troll. I will only run that far if I get a full 24 hour window. The Dip is the only other area I bother with early season, as often this is a migration path of the BFT, and we have had a few nice 60 plus inch fish at night there, as well as more than a few spool jobs on giants. I don't use any 50s at night early season anymore on the chunk!

Basically, I try and find decent temp break along the wall somewhere, troll it, then move to the deep at night(just off the edge, 900-3000 feet)

That 44 Ocean you are sporting sounds nice, I've helmed a few in that size class, well built and good ride.

Capt Dom-

Thank you for the kind words regarding the Maggie B. I, as you, have spent the last 2 years getting her where I want her. This winter is hopefully last of the major baseline maintenance and upgrades....cleaned intercoolers, oil coolers, xmission coolers and new fuel coolers (including all new blue silicone hoses and constant pressure clamps) were done in January. She's getting a Model 8600 Floscan fuel management system, Xantrax 2K inverter/smart-charger and SPA Digital EGT/Boost gauges between now and end of March. All new injectors going in on the stbd engine as well.

Anyway, enough of that......unfortunately Hydrographers is a "little" out of my range. I burn 37 GPH @ 2100 RPM @ 21-22 kts with a total fuel capacity of 500 gals. Right now I figure Atlantis is about my limit on the East canyons....however that may change once I find the "sweet spot" on the fule burn with the new system. However, the Dip is a pretty easy trip for me at about 91 nM (from Spicers in Noank).

Thanks again for the info....maybe we'll see you out there come May-July.
