Anyone had their bottom cleaned with the sodablasting method? Did you feel it was worth it? Any input would be helpful as I'm thinking of having it done to get rid of many layers of bottom paint. George | ||

| I am in the cleaning and restoration business. We have used soda blasting to remove graffiti , mold and smoke damage. I havent had my boat done yet, but plan to next year. Its expensive I have quotes in the $1500. range for a twenty five foot. The job is done neat though. They lay out a ground cloth and encapusulate the boat. You can either go down to the barrier coat or have them remove that also. Soda blasting leaves a extremely smooth surface as opposed to sand, walnuts,plastic shot and dry ice.  :far t:

| There's a guy in Branford Ct that does soda blastin I had put a post up a year ago or so on this site with his info I'll see if I can find it ,He swear its a much better job than other methods. Here's the post for the guy in Connecticut Clean your Bottom | ||

Dom, Thanks for the offer on painting but I shove Bryan under the boat to save this old man's back. Tony Toppa does the sodablasting and he gave me a fair price so I think I'll try it. I also might put a product called PropSpeed on all the underwater metal, props,struts trim tabs etc. A buddy of mine in St Thomas swears by it to keep all growth off. I did some research and it's gotten great reviews. Any help om MPG helps on the long runs. Talk to you soon George | ||

| Had my boat soda blasted yesterday and it came out great, well worth it. Tony Toppa did a nice clean job and it's comforting to know my barrier and gelcoat are in great shape. I would have never been able to know the condition unless I wrecked my back and respiratory system sanding. Worth every penny. Tight lines, George | ||
