looking to book a tuna charter this year with a top notch successful captain where I can not only catch fish but learn new tactics to employ myself. I heard the southbound out of niantic, CT was really good? Any advice?

I don't know anything about the Southbound. However, I can give you a recommendation of a great charter captain out of Clinton, CT......Capt. Mike Marro of Bluefin Charters.

Capt Mike was also written up in the December issue of Sportfishing Magazine on chunking for tuna. He will teach you as much as you want to learn and let you participate as much as you want.

Send me an e-mail at jamesdean@aesnuclear.com and I'll send you the article.

Good luck!

Check out Captain Eric Stewart of the Hook up out of Orleans Cape Cod. I have never Fished with him but have taken his tuna 101 class that he offers in the spring. What you learn in the class and I am sure if you fish with him is invaluable. He is a member on this site you may want to contact him and ask some questions. He raises more bluefin east of Chatham than anyone I know.

You should also try Captain Vin McCarthy of Seaker Sportfishing. He has great bluewater experiance and knows alot about tuna as well. He too is a member at this site and may be some one you want to contact.
