SSShhaaaarrrkkiinn'''

All this warm weather seems to have brought Offshore temps. up to 50+ degrees out at The Horns and beyond. Oceantemp charts are also showing warm water (60+) just beyond Block Canyon.

Anybody ever ventured Offshore for shark this early in the season?

if you hit the edge up where the break was west of the Hudson or past West Atlantis to oceanographer's there is warmer water that will be holding Mr sharky but nothing inshore of that the water is still pretty cold around the horns. But hey you never know they could be closer in if the bait is there.

save your money

I would wait until atleast June. There's no since in running all the way to the edge just for shark in my opinion unless your very wealthy. I'm thinking there may be alot less people venturing offshore this year with gas prices hiking up past $4. I heard it's $5 in Florida already, is it coming our way??! I'll probably still go this year but a LOT less. Also getting a crowd to pitch in on expenses.

No B$ Pipe dream ...

Thanks for the advice Gents ... best to wait it out and save the cash!

Last year we ran to The Hudson on June 6th where we found 70 degree water a ton of Blue Dogs and thankfully 2 keeper Bluefin. This time last year the watertemps. were still in the 40's at the NOAA Buoy 20 miles South of Montauk so I was very curious.

Winter flounder and schoolies will have to do for now but I'm still dreaming of that wonderful sound ... bbbbbzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz! FISH ON!
