Stellwagon Last Trip for 2008

Headed out this morning at 4:45 AM from Green Harbor on the "Connie Mae" with Rich, myself and two others (whom have never fought or landed a BFT) with hopes of putting late season BFT in the boat for each of them.

We arrived on the SWC of the bank just as the false dawn appeared to find fish exploding all around us, birds diving and whales feeding in all directions.

We set out a spread of consisting of a Black Foil bar W/green stinger & pork rind way back, XRaps of the stern corners and a couple Yozuri deep divers in between. Trolled for about 20-30 minutes then WHAM!!! the bar gets hit and is dumping the 9/0 Senator. Clear the other lines and after a 20 min. fight we put a nice 60" CFL fish in the boat

Bled the fish, cleaned up, ice the fish, then set our spread out again. Trolled for another hour or so with a constant eyes on all the fish busting on the surface EVERYWHERE. Made some casts with SlugGo's, and small surface swimmers but no takers..............

Shortly after we're tight again this time the Avet Pro 30/2 W/the Xrap is screaming we clear the lines, and strap Joe in for what would be a 40 min battle. After seeing the fish twice we finally get the fish boat side and lip gaff the fish then carefully bring it into the boat. Fish is a FAT 63" fish We popped a UNH tag in it shot a pic and sent it on it's way

The wind and seas started to build so we decided to call it around 10:45 and head for the barn.

Notes: Bait in the spot we hooked out first fish on the SWC was 25 feet thick with whales having a feeding frenzy like I've never seen.
Water temp was in the mid 50's and there are still a LOT of fish out there.

Awesome way to end a great season on the bank

Armand, from the looks of things at the bank, the only thing that that will keep you from getting a butterball is the weather. From all acounts the fish are still there in droves, so grab a few of your plugs and get yourself up here!
