Sunday at Ryans Horn

Headed out early to Tuna Ridge in search of bluefin, spread in the water at 7:30, water temp 64.2. Trolled south for 2.5 hours. No life, a few weeds and a couple lonely birds. Pulled in the spread and headed west to the Horns.

Set up the slick and got 3 lines in. First half hour, no action. Water 66.3, murky. After eating a sandwich, I decided to put a fourth line out, deep and short. Once the float hit the water and I was attempting to put the rod in the rocket launcher, the line took off for a good 20 seconds. Fish on.

After a 45 minute battle down deep, we turned the fish and brought it boatside. Thresher steaks for dinner. About 150 pounds. We subdued the tail slapper, boated it and head ed back to the barn. Not a bad way to spend the day on the water.
