Hit the SWC of the dump Tuesday with the intention of nearly sinking the boat under the weight of all the mahi that I intended to catch. Plan was to hit the fliers and head south through the lanes, weather forecast was for light and variable with 1-3 foot seas, sounded perfect. Lines off the dock at 4:30, lines in at 7:30 amongst a flier field at the SWC. Winds are now out of the east at 10-15 kts, seas an east chop of 3-4 ft, not quite what the forecast was. Fish on at second flier at 7:45 on a pink Zuker which we dropped, apparently a tuna due to the fact that it sounded instead of splashed. And that was that. Hit approx. 50 - 60 fliers above and below the lanes without another hit, splash, knockdown, sniff or anything. Tried casting with bait and white jigs, changing the spread, bars, chains, birds, different colors, etc. etc. without another hit. Pulled the plug at 1:00. Water temps pretty constant at 76 - 77. When it's from the east, maybe they do bite the least... | ||
