SWC today....blanked

Anybody hooked up today? Had tons of bait around, had a tuna come clear out of the water EARLY morning and miss on the short bar, besides that nothing else. We DID find some feeding fish to cast to later in the day, few swipes at the plug and nothing else. Saw tunameltdown working an area for a while, did you end up getting hit?

Managed to scratch out two today. Went east of the fleet in the AM and got a small fish 48 inch. Nothing for a while but there was soooooo much bait / Bass / Blue fish arround I just could not leave. Late afternoon I decided to run allong the west edge of the Bank and had a lucky hit. Boated and released a beautiful 58 inch FAT fish. There was a nice surface chop developing when we got that fish, I think that really helps a lot. Good luck out there.

Thanks cap, congrats . I heard of some taken, We had swarms of sand eels around us most of the time, out a bit east. It looked like it was raining! We are heading south for a couple weeks so no tuna till after the 4th. Good luck to you all.

Saw a lot of fish, but no takers...

Headed more into the bay to find stuff on top. Saw more fish today pushing than I have seen in a long time. Have some cool video of it which I will try to get up. One school was a good 100-200 yards wide Could see about 2-3 schools pushing at a time. They wanted nothing to do with anything. Trolled the rigs right across the front of them and they pushed right through them. Then too many boats got in the mix and broke everything up. Good to see that many fish around.

To add to the uneventful day I was trolling along with no other boats around and a boat steamed right behind me. My 2 riggers go off and what do you know, both lines were cut off Went full throttle after the guy with my other lines still in. Did catch up to him and he stopped and he had no clue. He did give me $200 to compensate. Now I'm off to pick up a couple more bars...

WOW

Wow Edgewater, you are lucky he was a stand up guy and paid for his mistake. A lot of jerks out there lately. I think I saw your boat over at the Hill area Sunday. Too calm in the AM for trolling. Better luck next week

Nice Fish Fred

Fred,

Nice fish and congratulations. I have had those pushing fish frustrating the hell out of me before. I have gotten lucky a couple of times and had a few hook ups with them but overall I find I am wasting my time with them. It seems they have one thing on their mind and that is going some place. The good news is, with all of the bait around, large schools of fish, many which are big, it is shaping up to be a great year for tuna fishing in CCB and SWB once again.
