Less is more....

Just go tuna chunking, seriously. I had 5 keepers last year along with a few pups, all on baits intended for tuna, all up near the surface, as well as 2 on jigs. If you put out chum in the canyons, sharks will come.

Baitmasters sells bait, its there job to try to get you to buy new products however I fish with 2 of the best sword captains out there and I have never ever seen anyone use chum. Dead or live baits suspended under jugs at differnt depths over specific contours, drop offs etc will get you your sword

Dom has had a great amount of success up here

The same basic concept as using a baloon as a float for sharking except they use a jug with a lightstick in it

Jugs are empty plastic milk jugs that they put a light stick in, they attach it to the mainline as a float with a clip to identify lines. Because your fishing so deep down there you wont really notice at night if a regular float is moving so if you see a light stick flying across the surface you know someone is home

its really insane watching one of your lines racing across the surface and you haven't heard a click of the reel yet. Great visual tool

jugs, got it now. The times I've been sword-fishing we didn't use floats - just free-dropped the baits under the boat. You could see the rod bend and that was the clue.

I could see doing that for shark lines though.
