Sunday was forecasted 10-15 NE with the winds to diminish in the afternoon. I left Stage Harbor with the Bob Ley crew onboard. Bob had won this trip as the door prize at the “BFT Seminar” that we held in March. I knew this would be a good trip with some great guys. The sound was flat but once I turned the corner at Monomoy I knew we would get our butts kicked all the way out. We had 28 miles to go and the big tide was running into the 15 kts of wind made the seas stand right up. It was a slugfest for sure. I love the ride out in October, dark the whole way to the grounds. Yeah haw?!?! Once on scene we were greeted with life everywhere. Whales, birds, bait, and most importantly tuna. As I swung the boat around into the wind to set the spread I looked downwind and I could see fish breaking on the surface. I swung the boat around and headed at the fish. I never got to them. We had only gotten one rod out long with a naked hoo when the rigger clip popped and the drag started to sing. As I was fighting this fish a catamaran outboard boat started to steam into the area. He was steaming right through the fish. I got on the radio and tried to clue him in but he never seemed to get it. He would be like this the whole day. We had the fish to the boat in about 15 mins and soon he was tail roped and we were getting the spread back out. The fish was 59 inches long. We got the spread out and I could see 3 schools up feeding. Soon the left long rigger with a skirted hoo went off and we were on again. This fish played possum but we soon had him tagged and released, another 58 inch fish. The spread went back out and we were feeling pretty good at this stage. I felt that the bite would stay on until the slack. Again the long right naked hoo went off and the fight was on. Another quick tag and release and we were right back in the game. The spirits were high on the “Tammy Rose”, we just went 3 for 3 and the day was still young. Now we had a fleet of about 7 boats with us. The fish were all over the place but nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd. That catamaran would reel in his lines and steam right through the middle of the fleet heading from school to school and then try and set out on them. Man this guy was annoying. That type of fishing within a fleet is just not right. I would love to have talked with him but he refused to come back up on the radio even though I had talked to him earlier. Just not cool dude. The fish you steamed over and through were amazing. I hooked up all three of my fish outside of the schools on the surface. We worked through another school and I watched as the right long exploded, I could see the fish hit the hoo and it made a pretty big splash. The fish was dumping the 130 and we got him stopped with 40lbs of drag only to have him turn and make another big run. We had a good one on here now! And then we didn’t. AGHHH! Pulled the hook. Nice fish had to be in the 200 to 250lb range at least. I know it wasn’t a 58 incher. But that is fishing. I baited another school and had two fish explode on the squid rigs, one hit and took the long rainbow rig under the water and missed the hook and another crashed the short black rig. We trolled around for awhile longer and the schools went down when the slack came and went. I marked some nice fish but we never got another bite. Total was 3 fish for 6 bites. Just a great day with lots of action. The full moon starts tonight and Tuesday so I hope to be back out there later in the week. Give us a call if you want one more shot at the tuna. This is our last week for charters and we have next weekend open. I hope we get to go one more time, but this could be it. You have to love where our economy is at?!? Also mark your calendars for Saturday Nov. 1st because we are going to have our first annual customer appreciation day at “The Hook-Up!” Swing by and get some great food and drink with some awesome sales. Celebrate the “Bite” of 2008 with the crew of “The Hook-Up!” More info is available on our website. Thanks Capt. Eric

| A message to Captain Eric of the Tammy Rose and all you Tuna Fishing nuts. I was one of the lucky guys to go out that sunday morning. It was rough heading out but the captain and boat handeld it great. As far as getting on the fish there was no doubt, within 2 minutes we hooked up. Now this was a first for us in fighting these fish on a leaning post since were used to stand up gear on yellow fin, swords, and sharks. It took getting used to but we managed. Captain Eric was patient. we did catch some nice BFT and pulled the hook on a better one but thats fishing. In short i think the fishery is amazing up here (being from CT). Captain Eric and first mate Ben, lived up to the Tammy Rose reputation. They set out to go fishing regardless weather it was a paid trip or a door prize at his semeinar. We caught fish, and even when the bite bied, they kept on trying regardless weather your an experienced fisherman or a new guy on the block, A trip on the Tammy Rose can always pay off a good experience. On behalf of Bob ley, Chuck and myself, thanks again Captain Eric and crew. fish on! Diggin it II | ||

| Captain Eric and Ben, Sorry for the late acknowledgement. As I sit here at work in the middle of the night, I find that Dan could not have said it better, nor could I. Many thanks to a boat, Captain and crew that can back it up! Looking forward to seeing you guys in the future! Bob | ||

Great report and no one does it better off of Chatham then Capt Eric and the Crew of the Hook Up. Great Job and glad to see these CT boys learned you don't have to steam to the canyons to catch quality BFT.
