Thursday & Friday tuna hunt

Well took Thursday and Friday off due to the good reports and headed up to the bay. Thursday was a bit lumpy leaving Sandwich so we slowly made our way over to the CC Buoy. Looked around for awhile but never saw anything worth casting to. So I headed to our numbers outside to look around out there. We bobbed around and looked for several hours without as much as a single fish showing. So at this point I decided we would make our way back north to mid-outer bay area. We found a bunch of Stck boats and planes and finally found some pushing fish. We setup on these fish for 2-3 hours casting to and attempting to hook them. We had many swings and misses but could not come tight. Finally my buddie Derrick gets tight to a nice fish that screams off so I give chase. He has the fish on for about 10 min. when all of a sudden he says gone. I say WHAT??? He says it cut me off. I say to him how long was your leader?? He says it was 6 feet, and I proceed to scold him for not changing out his leader to a 8-10 ft. length. He says "I Know" but I didn't. Very quiet ride home. Friday we got a much later start driving up and launched about 8:30 am. We headed straight across from Plymouth to the numbers from Thursday but found dead water. So we headed out to the SWC and found quite a parking lot. Lot's of birds, bait and a few whales. A very large number of boats trolling and or jigging. We tried jigging for a short time but came up empty. We then headed SSE to my long numbers but only found some whales. Had some birds following something on top but repeated casts/jigs produced nothing. So we head back to the numbers from Thursday. Hung around for quite awhile waiting and hoping to find some pushing fish like the day before but never saw any. So now I here on the radio a couple of guy's talking about fish going nuts on top and they were doubled up. They were coming through loud and clear and I thought they maybe close by. But a scan with the binocs didn't really tell us anything, there were a lot of boats spread wide within 8-10 mi. of our location. These guy's kept talking back and forth for the better part of 2 hours, talk about frustrating, I would have given anything to know where they were just to get a couple of decent shots at fish for my friend Derrick. We headed up into the bay towards the CC where I saw the most boats hoping that was the area. But we got there only to finds a bunch of stick boats, planes and Recs just sitting and looking. We did hang around and look for a while but never saw any good signs of fish. So I head back out to the area where we had been. Now the wind was coming up and it was hard to see anything on top. Saw a couple of boats close to each other so I headed in that direction to be in the area. There were four of us sitting within 1/4 mi. of each other when I see out of the corner of my eye a huge school of fish crashing about 1/4 mi. away. One of the other boats was closer than us so they got there first but no joy. I kept my distance so as not to crowd them and hope the fish would come back up near us. Then they did about 500 yds, behind us, I tried to get to them but the first boat got there again before we did and they double up. They dropped one fast but the other one stayed buttoned up. So I am trying to circle around them and stay away when they start coming towards me and telling me that the fish is going under my boat. I put it neutral so as to not cut them off and they scream move. So I ask them which way do you want me to move and then move straight ahead and get out of their way. They moved off and finally lost the fish about 1/2 mi. away. After that it was over never saw the fish again unfortunately. Very frustrating day. It was beautiful for most of the day and we had perfect conditions but couldn't find the fish although it wasn't for lack of trying. What I wouldn't give for some buddy boats to give us some intel on the water when we are up there. I didn't even try to contact the guy's that were talking as I knew there was no way they were going to share their location with us. One of the guy's names was Rob that is all I know and all I can say is good for you guy's I only wish I could have been there to see what you guy's were seeing. $600.00 in gas in 2 days and no fish to show for it stings pretty good but that is the game I guess.

I did see Seaker out on the bank fighting the crowds. Nice boat Vin!
