Triton, Contender, Mako???

Anyone have experience with these hulls? Meaning opinions on structural integrity, seakeeping ability, maintenance accessability, and all that stuff. Looking at something between 21 and 25.

Hmmmmmm.

Buddy has a Triton and it may be the wettest boat I have ever ridden on. The quality is there but the ride flat out stinks. Nicknamed it the chinese water torcher ride and they dealers every 6 months.

Mako?? Not what they used to be.

CONTENDER. Have run a 21,25 and 27 and those boats won't let you down. A little wet but overall a great ride and easy to maintain. The Triton and Mako don't even compare except the fact they are CC's. GO CONTENDER.

I'll agree with Devil's Fiddle. Can't go wrong with a Contender......always WAS and still is a great ride and very good quality.

Older Makos up to the very early 90's were very nice boats, the new ones suck. Can't sugar coat it.

Triton? LOLOL Yeh, ok, so the hatches and whatnot on the baitwells are pretty airtight and quiet......the ride? HORRIBLE!

Let's just say that when out in 4-5 footers in a strong SW wind out at the Horns.....while helping film a popular northeast fishing show using my '74 Formula 233 as a camera boat.......

I was asked by the 26' Triton with twin outboards to get out in front and knock the seas down because they were getting their asses beat to hell.

Hmmmmm.....let's see.....my OLD 1974 23' Formula.....designed in 1962......still was running the old 1974 powerplant LOL........

I hammered down, blew right by the Triton like a race-boat, and jumped in front, giving them an acceptable ride LOL.

You have to admit, that's pretty piss-poor. A 30+ year old boat designed 45 years ago, outperforming a supposedly state-of-the-art design, that even had 3 EXTRA FEET on me and TWICE the power LOL.

Convince you on Contender yet?

I have to agree... CONTENDER.

My old Whitewater and 74Formula's old boat are virtually the same hull. Where do you think contender started, with that same basic hull. A proven design many of the famous makers use to this day.

I wonder why we sold 'em??? Life goes on I guess.

i agree with pete? These are three different boats, and conteder is miles above the others.

Contender, Regulator, SeaVee... that may be an interesting discussion.

contender, regulator, seevee

thanx for all the feedback. I've done a little research on regulators versus contenders but nothing on seevee yet? Seems regulators are a much heavier boat than contender. 23 Regulator dry weight: 3800lb. Contender: 2400lb.

The regulators are much heavier boats and owe some of their great ride do to the weight. They also require more power/fuel to push.
