Tuna, is charlie one of the guys who owns the tri-angler out of watch hill?

I'll be out sunday, I'm planning on sharking, but if we see tuna signs we will be ready to troll as well.......

Hopefully I'll find some calm water - not from the waves, from the guys pre-fishing the star island tournie. Maybe I should sell my report to the highest bidder......

Oh, and congrats on the sushi. Nice early season achievement.

I can confirm !

We took the Ave Maria 2 out on a cod/haddock charter Fri, cod/ haddock fishing was so so with lots of shorts to keepers,
also jigged a bunch of macs that we put in the live well.
things got slow so we thought we would screw around as we had a few boats dragging bars near us and plenty of stick boats around also..
We figured we would have not shot at all because we didn't have any gear to handle even a small school tuna.
Thought wrong !!!
Hooked up and was getting spooled very quickly, Capt Mike at the wheel and for the 1st 1 1/2 hr one of our clients on the rod, mostly at the bow while we got dragged around for 6 miles.
After the 1 1/2 the guy on the rod needed to hand it over, I take the rod (other clients were girls)
Another hr I battle the fish came to the boat and was gaffed with the only (small) gaff we had on board.
Made a tail rope from a dock line and cleated it off, took 3 of us to lift the remainder of the fish into the boat.
Fish measured 66-67 inches, our best estimate, 200 +lbs
Pretty cool considering what we caught it on !!!
Abu Garcia big game 10000 with 60 lb mono on a 8ft custom Lami, 4ft flouro tandem 3/0 treble rig leader.
The attached pics are long after the fish was bled, gutted, gilled, iced !!!

Comgrats Ronnie

Ron,

What did the fish hit on, was it a bar or one of those macks you had? Congratulations on such an early fish you put in the boat.

Dave

Dave,
On a mac.
We started getting a few on the teasers on the drops, so we grabbed a few of the rods we keep rigged with the mac rigs and put a bunch in the live well.
Put a few out and let them drift while we continued to jig cod.
One of them went off screaming out line, motored up and covered 6 miles of fighting / being dragged around!
2 1/2 hrs later it was gaffed with a 6ft gaff and dock line/tail rope and cleated off. too 3 of us to lift the remainder of the fish over the side into the boat!

We knew they were there and there were a few boats dragging bars and some stick boats with guys up in the towers in search.

Am I on the right website. I had to do a double take on the website. Why dont you post where you where. I dont think we are talking about gps cords or anything. Like the east wall of the tails in 627 feet of water. What ever just a post of what we caught. Ok. Well it was a nice fish but in order to get props from me post some more info.

Sorry,
Though I know some guys here for many years, I haven't been on this site long and other sites have different rules.
