Left the dock early Saturday morning under the cover of darkness with my father, Mike and Jeff and headed for the NWC of Stellwagon. Upon arrival we had birds, whales, bait and tuna everywhere. In went the rigs and we trolled and casted at busting fish all morning to no avail. Around noontime I heard chatter of a bite going off just a few miles to my south and followed a new friend of mine down there. Rick who runs the boat Endorfin had been called by another friend who just released his third fish and was tight to another. So I ordered rigs in and put the pins to the Tuna Meltdown and was doing 50 mph and was on scene and fishing within minutes. Two or three boats in the area were fighting fish and I new We would get our shot. About thirty minutes later I saw the rigger bow and looked back to see a fish attacking my port long rigger 11" Rainbow (P-town special) bar. The fish was hooked but the release clip on the rigger was jammed by a piece of knotted up balloon left over from the shark tournament on the main line. After a short fire drill exorcise we had the rigger popped and Jeff was strapped into his first Bluefin ever. 35 minutes later I got my shot with the Harpoon and nailed him right in the armpit behind the pec fin and it game over. Tail roped and swam him for about 15 minutes and then boated Jeff's first bluefin. 57"- 120 pounds. Sunday we returned to the same location we fished on Saturday and caught the smallest Bluefin I've ever caught. He attacked a 11" Sandeel colored bar within acouple decimal points of the same location of the fish I caught on Saturday. He was 34" long and weighed about 30 pounds. I quickly tagged him with a tag a tiny tag and let him go after a couple quick pictures. I will post the pictures as soon as CVS can figure out how to correctly burn copies to a CD. They gave me a blank disk yesterday.

Dan, I acually cruised through the double LL's and saw some fish pop here and there. I didn't last long as they were up and down...must have been before it turned on. Glad to hear you got another. Was out there today and did not see a fish. Hoping to get out there this weekend. I'll make sure my radio is turned up. | ||
