Tuna Meltdown First Blood Part 2 (6-15-08)

Well here is the second half of what was an epic weekend for me and my friend Mike aboard my boat. Let me start by saying that last year we could not catch a cold let alone a tuna. So to catch 3 sizeable ones in one weekend has got me stoked. This new boat raises fish well and for some reason all the fish were caught on my only standup 80VSW and in the same port long rigger configuration. After catching our 200+ pounder on Saturday I decided to make the 30+ mile run again on Sunday in sloppier seas.
We left the dock at 5 a.m. and got to the bank at 7:00. I almost turned around but my friend Chris MacDonald aboard his boat SEA SAW had already boated a 55 incher in the same spot I was in the day before. That was all I needed to hear to press on in 4 footers at 15 knots.
Upon arival I saw a bunch of birds that looked nice but only held monster bass and bluefish.
I began trolling east towards Chris in 220' of water and I went off at about 8:00 and I jumped on the rod and after a 25 minute fight had a 55"-110 pounder in the boat and on ice. We straightned out the bar (13" Black/Purple with a Lipstick stinger) and redeployed the spread and ran back over where I had hooked up and the same bar went off again and this time Mike was on the rod and after another short 20 minute fight we boated, took pictures of, and released hunharmed another 55"-110 pounder.
Here are a few pictures from 6-15-08 aboard Tuna Meltdown.

Nice trip(s) there Dan. Sweet fish. Way to kick off the year.

I will buy you some sunscreen next time I see you.... .
Or is that just the blood pumping from lifting those heavy fish?
