| You are going to find that baits that swim well on the hook (whiting, herring) work very well. Pollock, cod, mud hake and haddock are low on my list for live baits because they don't much care for being on the hook. | ||

| We used to stop on the way out to the BB Buoy and jig up whiting and keep them alive for bait. Common practice

I have hooked up on small cod and I know a number of fisherman that use small cod,haddock live if they are unable to catch herring. | ||

| I have a friend who was a professional Rod/Reel giant fisherman and he would use live cod/whiting/pollock/hake/etc. I'm sure it helps if it is a common species to where they are feeding. I'm not sure how they would hit a fish that was very dis-similar to what's in the area??? Armand | ||

| Not to hijack the thread, but a real important question, do the dogfish enjoy the cod/hake/whiting/pollock? With the price of fuel, chunking is going to be a considerable option this year. | ||

| you know what the funny thing is, Many giant bluefin have been opened up and they had whole dogfish in their belly's  kinda makes you think .Armand | ||

have a freind who built a nice boat and wanted to fish for tuna. his first season caught two giants. I do not think he has caught any since but he caught them on live haddock. Not sure the legality or anything but that is what he used. | ||
