YANKEE shark photos and report

Good first shark trip for the season. We headed out between Ranger and Ryans horn. The water temp was around 69. Morning was slow with a ton of pain in the ass birds trying to eat our chum and chunks. Finally early afternoon the blue sharks showed up. We caught 2 fairly good size ones 150 to 200lb. Small Mako showed up doing back flips right next to the boat.
Everything got a little quite after that. Maybe a hour later our second and first ballon got a little tangled up. Of course while in the middle of fixing that, a nice size mako comes swiming up alongside the boat and under the bow. As we scramble to get all our baits back in the water the short bait off the stern hits and runs like hell. Allright were on I set the hook and start to fight the shark. All of the sudden out of the corner of my eye I catch the mako swimming down the side of the boat. I yelled to Mark, the owner of the boat "thats the mako and I've got something else on." He took a pitch bait and jigged it in front of the mako, who inhaled the bait and took of running. We ended up fighting both sharks - got mine close enough to see and relized it was a blue cut it off and Mark boated the mako . All and all a pretty good day. Mako was maybe 150-200 lbs. 6 1/2 ft long.

Hope to see everyone at Oak Bluffs - Andrew
