Fish Report -Muff Diver 29 June 07

Reel Draggin’ Tackle Fishing Team Report – June 29, 2007
Fishing today Aboard The Muff Diver

Location: Ocean City, Md. - Sunset Marina
Boat: 1984 Ocean Yacht
Captain: Joe Riley
Reel Draggin’ Tackle Crew: Ken Platt Party including Ralph & Chris; Will & Ed McKnight and Paul Zaimes.

Details: Left the O.C. dock at 5:00am headed for the 30 to 50 fathom area around Poormans Canyon. Around 7:30 am we set out a spread consisting of rainbow draggin and green draggin squid bars and slammer bird bars and a few skirted hoos. Water temps were 69.5° upon arrival, the highest seen was 71 degrees. We worked the areas where we marked fish and saw bait and picked them off one by one until noon when we had 8 YellowFin Tuna in the boat between 20 and 50#. Then, it shutdown on us until 2pm we had our first triple header. Well, all three managed to cross lines and create a tangled mess and we ended up boating one of the three. We ended the day with 9 YFT.

All in all a good day on the Muff Diver today.

Ken

Great report Ken! I'm jealous of your water down there, I am thinking at least 2 weeks, maybe more before a bite on the YellowFin Tuna develops up here. To make matters worse for me, my usual June BlueFin Tuna fishery did not occur. The footballs are few and far between, and the good sized 40-65 inch fish we usually see came off the edge and headed north where the sand eels are thick. the water in my general range is just plain ugly, although the sharking has been pretty good for a few weeks now.

I watched your rainbow bars swim yesterday. They looked awesome! Very similar to the old moldcrafts I used to have, only much more durable. Can't wait to get them in front of a fish....BAM!!

I will not put out my winning greenies until the Yellows show, as I have avirgin Tiagra 50 on a virgin merrick custom stand up that I know will produce a monster....new stuff always catches!! I will be sure to post a full report once I swim those bad larrys...

Capt Dom:
The green slammers and rainbow squid have been accounting for most of the YellowFin Tuna. The BlueFin Tuna have been taken on our Hawaiian Eye and Hoo. We also have had great reports from a customer who has been landing 100# plus BFT on our sport dredges. He sent a bunch of pictures, but I am waiting on the full report so I have all of the details.
We are going back out in the morning.

Ken,

I had left your bars at my house after cleaning them up real good, and wouldn't you know it, I found my first pod of BlueFin Tuna this am....would have been nice to report your bars had accounted for the tuna, but alas, they were forced to feed on "other" bars, LOL.

Hope you catch em up real good again. I will be sure to give a real thorough report once I swim those greenies!
