NBS Use a Bathymetric Chart

i was just overlaying some gps tracks w/waypoints marking hookups over a bathymetric chart, and i was blown away how well all the waypoints lined up with the countour lines on the chart. when the boat was outside of this close group of depth curves, no hookups occurred. lesson: get a bathy chart on your plotter and follow the 'active' depth curves or at the very least pay close attention to the (exact) depths the tuna are hitting from and stick in that depth water...

Here are a few from Reel Draggin' Tackle:
- Keep your tips & trick offshore related to win this Green Draggin' Slammer spread.
- Make sure your tip & trick post has not already been posted.
The winning number will have met these two requirements.

Here is our freebe:
This works best when on the troll on a slick clam day. First, we troll a bird spread. Four bird bars, two bird chains and the big bird down the middle. Keep all lines tight to the boat. The other lines are usually slammers (nine total). We then fill the live well first with water, then dump in about 1/2 gal of Menhaden oil. We keep the live well pump running, pumping the water/oil mix overboard. To fiind us, all you have to do is follow the slick. It can be hard to buy a bite on a slick calm day and this method had brought many fish to the boat. Once we have a hookup, we just continue to work the area, dumping more water/oil over. If we have chunks/chum we will add that in also, but just a bit at a time. Tuna will pick up the smell/taste of the oil and follow the slick rignt to a splashing bird spread which appears to them as a feeding frenzy they have been missing out on and they are quick to join!

A 1/2 Gal will last us about an hour and we always have 2 gals on board

Canyon Vision

Don't bring your blinders with you, and think you have to be on the edge or off it to catch YFT....I can't tell you how many times I have been just past the dump, or in the lanes, and 20-30 boats blow by me all day, in their hurry to get to the "EDGE"...passing too many positive signs of fish.

Right water, slow down and look, right water with birds, take a loooonger look, any bait, stop there, puit your spread out, and work that area.....If you catch there during the day, no need to run the rest of the way out, they will be in that area at night as well....just be more cognisant of traffic.

Roxanne, you don't have to put on a.....

TUNES.....TUNES.....and MORE TUNES when sharking. I have found that Bob Marley and Peter Tosh really seem to bring in the makos, while the Police and U2 are lucky for threshers.... besides, why not really enjoy yourself out there, sharking is the perfect pursuit for hanging out, music, food, drink, and toothy neighbors.....Sharks can't help but check out things they hear or smell......

The very best type lure for dead flat water is a lure that spends as much time out of the water as in the water Being a moldcraft fan that would be the tsunami hooker I can't afford Black Barts but it was his seminar that taught me that many years ago

Saftey first

Tip #1 Make sure all your guests know where the life jackets are.

Tip #2 Make sure someone other than you can operate the vessel.

Tip #3 Make sure someone other than you can locate and deploy the EPIRB if nessessary.

Tip #4 Don't fish beyond your abilities. Know you and your vessels limits.

Tip #5 All these tips work for inshore sissys and offshore tough guys.

dont over run the fish .

We have had some awsome trips in the last few years with double digit numbers on most of our trips.for one we allways try to fish during the week if possible less boats the fish seem to stay up higher which means a better troll bight. most of our trolling sucsess in the past few years have been between 48 to 60 miles out. most guys want to run straight to the canyon an pass some of the best fishing. if there is decent water breaks a little inshore of the canyon then theres probably fish there .
