It was a busy day for the Reel Draggin' TAckle Anglers on the Muff Diver Wednesday 16 July. We departed OC at 5am headed for the structure around the dog and the bone. After lines were in for about 10 min we get our first bite. It takes line and lots of it several times, so we know it a big in. Sink the gaff and get our over fish on ice, 63" and 158 pounds. We continue to fish the rest of the day looking for an under fish to fill the slot. By the end of the day we went 9 for 10, all but one was over 100 pounds. The last fish of the day, around 2:15pm was our under fish. We brought back a bunch of tired anglers. I will post more pictures tonight, here is a picture of the big guy on the scales: As I have stated in several posts this past week guys, the big ones are deep and lazy. Get your lines deep and send your way backs out 900 to 1200 feet. Our weighted Flashers on the way backs and dredges on the down riggers have been hot. Also, skirting Hoos with our small 5" slammers have been hot. The key is to get your lines deep. TROLL SLOW. We did a presentation on this at several MSSA meetings this year. - If you want to learn these tactics first hand, check out our web site we have several openings on our offshore seminars. Now is the time to get out there while these big fish are still around. | ||

| Nice report Ken. That's a beauty of a fish. What's the slot limit? 1 over 100# and one under? | ||

| over and under 47 inches. I guess they like to make it a challange ... Its loads of fun getting one of these into the boat alive to measure, big tuna just love that. No question on this one though, he got the steel right away! | ||

| Young Master Henry fishes on the Canyon Draggin' and the Muff Diver with us several times a year, on this day Henry was tested on two occasions when his number came up. Both turns at the reel, Henry brought 2 100 pound Tuna to the boat. | ||

| In that photo of Henry, I noticed the belt. I have to say, that thing is QUALITY. I used mine for the first time last Friday, sharking, and it is a seriously effective belt/harness. | ||

| I'm happy to say I'm the handsome devil that got the 158# beauty. My personal best, but regardless what a great day and good bunch of guys. The slow trips really make this kind all the more appreciated. Always a good time on this boat and the crew gets everyone involved. Very educational.Thanks Ken for your passion for fishing and getting those young bucks involved. Young Henry is worth his salt. | ||

| Larry, as always it was great to have ya aboard. We left them biting and the are still there. Its tough to get your lower slot now as this is a very large group of 100# and over tuna that has moved in. | ||
