Winter break report

Over the break I managed to get back in the saddle and catch some fish. First stop was Venice LA. The seas were very choppy and the original plan was to fish the lump. Well, the lump turned into a chocolate water shark fest, so we left quickly. We ran over to two fixed platforms on the shelf - Lena and Moxie. A knockdown quickly produced a skippy which went to the bait pile. At this point, Capt. Eddie made the decision to head out. Finally, we arrived at ELF - a production spar some 25 miles out of South Pass in around 3000 feet of water. Over the next few hours our drift produced 5 yellowfin to 70lbs. Finally headed in around 4 without seeing another boat all day. Any doubts about the Glacier Bays prowess in rough seas are put to rest on trips like this.

Next trip was out of my home port of Freeport, in the great Republic of Texas. Had a very brief period of sub 2ft seas to run the little 17 scout in. Headed out and finally found our snapper and grouper about 8 or so miles from port. Seas kicked up around 11 so we called it an early day with 5 good snapper in the box.

Brad
