5/26 Narr Bay Report

Headed out of Allen's Harbor at about 5:30 this morning. Bay was flat. I had some squid with me as a backup but planned to snag some pogies. Found pogies and snagged a few. Headed to Ohio ledge. Dropped some squid and live lined a pogy. After about an hour I picked up and moved. Grabbed a few more pogies and put a fresh one on and trolled along with it where the big pods were (north of Patience). Scored a 30" striper (first keeper of the season).

Moved between the islands to live line again. Nothing.

Tried the mouth of Greene's river - zilch

Moved down to Hope Island and livelined again along the east side. While trolling the pogy, it got wacked at a few times pretty vicioiusly but no hook ups. Must have been a small stiper that couldn't get the pogy in his mouth.

Called it a day around noon.

PS - Listening to the radio on 68 there must have been a lot of fish someplace because somebody kept giving play by play for each fish.

Hey George, that was me yelling at you at the dock from the white Formula CC (Holeshot) when we were coming in.

We fished early also before an afternoon wedding.....

6 keeper bass to 38" north of Prudence. Seemed spotty tho, many guys doing little to nothing, with some mixed in finding them.

We fished the same exact drift every time......

I still have to post a report.

I thought it was you. I've seen that boat before someplace. I was drifting across the shallowest part of the ledge near the can. Then some knuckleheads came along and decided to anchor about 15ft from me. I was drifting so I gave up on Ohio ledge after that...

I was down there yesterday with my son and got Bill Slader to give me a better spot. I am now in H-South #7 instead of #1. Much better spot.

I heard Hope had fish all around it Sat. Morning when we were in the upper bay.

I was in by then. When I go out early, I try to get in by around noon to get some family time for the rest of the day. I got one and ate it already. Used some cajun seasoning and blackened it on the grill.

We stopped at those schools on the way in and found only blues.....it was chop-chop on our chunks the whole time and then we screwed

We live-lined...blues didn't bother them at all. Pogys were BIG! Got blues to slam some of my spooks on top...it was a blast.
I followed idea from OTW for steaking the bass. Got to admit they were quite good...melted butter, white wine, garlic powder, thyme, lemon pepper and S&P to taste, baste frequently while grilling.
