Buzzards Bay Mackeral

So I was pulling into my driveway the other day and I see a rather large flock of gannets across the street. I walked over to the beach and saw them circling and diving into a large dark section of water. Too far to cast, I watched them for a while and went home wondering what they were after.

The next day, I found dead a couple of mackeral on the beach.

Too bad I sold my boat. I could use those for Lobster bait.

Having lived here for most of my life I don't remember seeing any this close to shore before.

It has been a weird year. Beginning of the season we had very large schools of large squid at the jetty. I filled 5 gallon buckets in less than 30 minutes at dusk. This went on for about a week.

In the same area there were football field size schools of schoolie stripers boiling. Haven't seen that in a long time.

It was also a banner year for Blues. I caught 2 18lb Blues. Biggest of my life. I even have witnesses.
