| Went last night by myself for what I thought would be an early evening. NOT They turned on late and I stayed till 2:30, getting a 1/3 bucket. Not bad. I left them there, thick in the water, had to work this am, so needed SOME shut-eye LOL.

| I went last night from 8-10 on the boat. Finally got some. Not all that much but enough for a few dinners. Asians got it down. Bite was hot for me at 9:15 and 9:45. I'm planning to bring a neighbor Sat night. I was thinking by water over around Dutch, Ever hear of them over there? I guess closer to Ft Getty.? |

| My physical Theropist said he and a partner landed 167 lbs last night off the bulk head at the naval base. |

| Went sunday nite w/6 guys. Got 61 inky critters. Chitty night but hope that hey wil be there this Saturday night. The rain & cold temps shut it down last week. We had a great nite despite the lack of co-operation from the squid.

| From reading some of the past replies, some things I've learned from the past few years of squidding. The asians will ALWAYS out fish you but if you're getting close to thier catch rate you're doing something right. I have not had any luck with lights attached to my line or near the jig. Wally mart has floating lights for $9/ea. These seem to be effective and are the cheapest light I've found. They also have a subermisible light that is advertised as freshwater use but we tried it last week and it showed promise (see if it is repeatable this week) Jigs-pink Yo-zuri is the only regurlar producer. You will catchon others but the pink is always on, can't go wrong. The size approx. 2-3" jigs. Too small and nothing too large only a select few. That size seem to catch all. The rigging seems to be key. A 2 or 3 jig line rigged with droppers and a light weight on the bottom, 2 oz, friends like lighter. The key seems to be the distancebetween rigs and then finally the rigs to the weight. The jigs spaced approx.18" between eachother and then 30-36" between the jigs and the weight. This gets your closer to the asians catch rate. Still not there but closer. I think I am going to bring some sake with us this week because they are usually doing shots of something and haven't found the right combination yet. Will keep trying.

striper1, you're pretty much spot on as far as I'm concerned, with those comments..... ![]() However, I don't use any floating lights, just a gas lantern hung from the railing above the water.........AND/OR a generator and 1000W of light LOL! Also, I have been using a rig with 3 jigs..... blue, pink, and green and found all work about equally so far. However, if I were to buy just ONE it would be pink Also had good luck with Yamashita jigs in addition to the Yo-zuri.I'm a slightly lighter-weight guy, usually use UP TO 1-1/2 oz, but use 3/4 oz on slack current. Yes, the asians (most) will outfish you LOL......and they don't "seem" to do anything special.....maybe WE just try too hard???? I felt like a pro last night because 2 asians that were new were squidding near me and not catching, while I kept slinging them over the rail.......talk about an ego-boost HAHAHA! ![]()
