December Bass

It seems as though there is some non believers as to the availabily of Bass In our local waters in the month of december. As I staed in a previous report. So Im going to paste a report posted by a customer that was posted on another site with a pic.

i will start by saying THANK YOU to capt. neil for holding a raffle to help the fight for OUR upcomming fluke season.....im still crossing my fingers on that...... and capt. tony of MARILYN JEAN CHARTERS for donating a fluke/fireworks charter for next july.

i was a lucky winner of that trip in the raffle. i have been reading the MARILYN JEAN reports on this website ever since. them being out of brooklyn i dont read many posts from that far away. i have noticed that this boat does a number on the tog. with blackfishing being new to me i sent capt tony a pm asking if i could trade the fluke.firework trip in for a tog charter. capt tony said sure and we made it for today. i gathered some noreast buddys and my bass fishing friend chris together for some whitechin shaving.

it was me and my bro(hubco) and kris(fishfinder13) . dan(dkuf811) and our friend dennis who drove from penn. to fish, (longhunter) and chris....it was choppy in the morning with S-SW winds at about 15-20. but laying down as the day went on.....december remember?

we steamed about a hour to our first drop. our capt for the day was capt. john and this guy was off the hook. when i say that i mean he had us set up over the wreck with two hooks before i had a crab on my hook. i was in awe just watching this being done. that is a art in itself. ....unfortunatly we had very lil life on this piece only pulling one keeper over the rail with a short or two. . capt john didnt let that happen long before he had us twin hooked over our next structure. again i blinked and missed the setup.

this piece had enough life on it to keep rods bent for a few hours. we put about 30 keepers in the box with most being over 5 lbs.

capt john had a good afternoon bite yesterday in another spot so he wanted to put us on it at the same tide so we steamed to out third and final drop.

the life was gone from yesterday but we managed about another 10 fish before calling it a day...we had about 45 keeper tog with at least 10 fish over 7lbs .

i had the pool fish at about 9lbs when dan cranked in a fish over 10lbs winning the big wood. now he can retire. ;) we also had some dogs nipping our heels all day and chris got a small ling...white crabs were the disired bait.

THEN TO BOOT!!!

on the way in we passed fields of birds feeding on herring being chased to the top by striped bass. with capt john being a addict also he was nice enough to set us up with jigging rods and put us under the birds and the rest was up to us. we jigged up at least 30 bass in a hour or so with dennis flipping the biggest fish over the rail. see pic. ..

i cant say enough about MARILYN JEAN CHARTERS and capt tony. this was my first REEL full day charter. these guys love to fish and it shows in there performance. kept us out ALL DAY.. mate skip didnt let me take a fish off my hook all day. he was rite there all day and had his work cut out for him cutting fish on the way back to port. .

the radio chatter all day was saying NO BITE....i think they were just on the wrong boat...capt tony told me he will get blackfish all winter with the water temps like this....i will be booking another trip in january...whos in? this is the boat to book...

thanks again capt tony. capt john mate skip. and capt. neil for setting it all up with his love of the game of fishing.........GO GITTM.....gil
