first cow on the boat.

My girlfriend and I headed out in old lyme on tuesday to try for some fluke and had a very unexpected catch. we were drifting in deeper water off of the hatchets reef area using a sbpro bucktail and a simple bucktail fluke rig both tipped with squid. as we drifted up on to the reef my girlfriend shouts over to me that she was snagged on the bottom. I look over at her rod and can instantly tell that it was not the bottom that she snagged. I told her to keep trying to gain on it and then her reel started singing. after about ten minutes of fighting this fish she gets it to the side of the boat and to her suprise and mine as well, a 40" striper was on the end of her line. needless to say we landed the fish and put that one in the freezer. this fish was not weighed but I would guess it weighed close to 30lbs as this striper was a fat one. she now holds the title for landing the biggest fish on my boat so far. unfortunatly for me that was the only fish landed that day but to see the smile that came across her face after landing that cow made the entire trip worth wile.
