I am no expert and this is jsut my opinion. have been threw countless pairs as I use to work on Comm lobster boat. My experience is they will never be the same with a patch, if you are looking for them to be completely water proof. I have tried inside patches and outside patches, and most just become a temporary fix to put off the inevitable a new pair. I have actually been looking around for a new pair and found pretty decent prices on them at JandHcloseouts.com. My current pair is like a sprinkler when they get wet from all of the spine holes, hook holes, blue fish teeth.

I had a rip in my old pair what I did was put the patch on super glue it then duck tape all around the edge of them it works.

If you do opt to get a new pair check out the Grundens Harvestors. I got a pair of them and they are in my book the best out there. I've had them 5 years and haven't put a hole in them yet.

Well thanks to all that helped here. My girl and I are now fighting because she said I'm so cheap and she hates it. She says to just buy a new pair!
