Lobstah Great BASSIN' on Inheritance 6-1-2008 (PICS!)

Well, 4 of us left the slip at 5AM and headed out to get some pogies. Had some first-hand intel where we'd likely find them (general area at least). After hearing reports during the week of guys searching all over the upper bay for any decent amount of pogies, we headed "south".

Got a bucket and a half in less than an hour. Headed fishing.

Talked to Brian (Albatross), Chris (Rover74) and a few others today to share info, etc.

Very foggy in many areas, and we had light wind against tide, giving us the infamous "lines towards the bow and under the boat" drift. Got nothing first spot we hit, except losing a 5# Blue. Big deal LOL.

Headed to spot #2 a bit further north. We spent the rest of the morning here. Quickly got into the bass, with numerous blues mixed in. This made it tough, as the blues would whack your line or bait, and often leave a small knick in the fluoro leader, then you'd get a bass on right after.

We popped many bass, more than we ever do, due to this aggravating occurrence. Several were heartbreakers too

So it was a game of constantly changing out leaders, hooks, etc. But we persevered.

Had a lot of action!

Landed 8 Bass, 1 - 30", the other 7 ranged from 36" to 42". All nice fat fish! Also picked up 4 Blues for the smoker to go along with a couple pheasants we're gonna smoke up.

Had happy boat-guests again today, and happy "us"! LOL

Here are SOME pics, but I need to get more from the other guys that took some, these are only the ones I got in-between gaffing and fighting fish LOL.

Eric great report and cool pictures as always. Thanks for the intel, it just wasn't our day. Last week we had fish but no bait and this week we had bait and no fish But then again, that's why they call it fishing.

Already looking forward to getting out there next weekend.

LOL the pheasants were shot by a friend of mine

Chris, I was just about to call you in the AM about the pogies but then saw you heading over LOL...

Right before we left the spot we were fishing, a friend of mine from work came over on her father's Marlago (sweet ride, just repowered last year with twin 250 E-Tecs, we fished on it one day last summer, a few people from work)......I threw her a ziploc bag with some chunks in it.....

She told me this AM that she caught a big fluke on the chunk of pogy LOL. Must have been a nice fish to be able to suck in one of those chunks Fluke will eat anything fresh that they can fit in their mouths! Can't miss the smell of a fresh bunker chunk!
