Holy Crap!!!

went out fluking yesterday with the girlfriend and had a spectacular day. whe headed out around 4:30am to our favorite fluking grounds in the niantic area in hopes of a great day of fishing. we managed to get one keeper on the tail end of the incoming tide but as soon as the tide switched the bite was on. I managed to catch my limit and my girlfriend managed 4 keepers. all in all we caught 9 fluke all ranging from 19" to 23" and all but 1 were caught over a period of about 2 hours on the outgoing tide. we very rarely have days when we land that many lagre keepers in the boat that fast. I just hope this is a sign of things to come.

Sounds like you two had a fantastic day!
Boating that many quality fish in short order doesn't happen too often.
Hopefully this will be a banner year for flatties.
Great weather and company only makes it better!
Thanks for the report.

That's a great day of fishing. What type riggs and bait were you using? How deep?

I was using a 2 hook teaser rig (orange and yellow) with smelt on top and squid on the bottom. most of the fish were hit in 20'-40' of water.

lets hope we all see more like that. I've talked to a few friends that went out in roughly the same area and did well on that same day . I even heard talk of guys getting nice size flatties from shore at branford point. I'll just have to wait till next week to try again. I'm having a hard time locating those teaser rigs though. seems to me the one I have was purchased in RI at either bennys or that little tackle shop near Quonnie. looks like a little road trip is in order.
