Lobstah Inheritance 6/7/08 Bass Narr Bay w/PICS

Not a bail job by any means this day......and i apologize for the slow report...been busy getting the pool open, doing yardwork etc......

But the pool is 79 and feels sweet these past couple days

Anyway, we took a former colleague of mine out Saturday. Got bait very quickly and were on our way to our first spot by 5:50 AM, even tho we got blown off for a 1/2w hr by Dave LOL

This day, we weren't marking SH!T in the areas we fished the last few weeks. Talked to Chris, he was heading up river by the coal bulkhead on a report from his buddy that he had 3 25#ers already. We ended up heading that way in a while. Freaking boats everywhere!

Tried chunking, but the DIOXIN-laden river-muck and sh!tloads of nasty seaweed would constantly foul your bait. Pat did get one 30" bass and was psyched He took the whole thing home after I gutted it, his daughter wanted to see it LOL

Chris said he was yo-yo-ing so we switched over. Haven't done that in years so it took a long time to get it dialed in. Missed a lot of fish, had several on and popped them, and had lots of hits. But not much success. Also noticed that the fish that some were catching were small....wondered what happened to the slug if nice sized fish?

Anyway the bite dies, we headed south, tried a few drifts before the wind died too, and we went in circles.

I caught a 6'6" 8 - 15# Pfleuger rod with a Shimano Corsair 300 Levelwind when my chunk fouled inthe tail end of the braid. After pulling in a mile of braid, this came to the surface Looked like it was just lost! Pulled the 2 screws, disassembled, washed everything with hot fresh water, and doused with WD for now

It's going to be my new squidding setup

Was there a hook on the end of the line when you pulled it up?

Actually, no LOL.....

At first i thought I might be pulling up a dead fish or an umbrella or chute, thinking I was pulling up the terminal end.......but it was quite the opposite!

Nice score Eric....After talking to you about that on Saturday, I had a similar thing happen to me on Sunday. - I snagged some wire on the end of my chunk so I reeled it in, grabbed the wire and pulled up a bran new 9er umbrella rig....Had to of been from that day because the hooks were still shiny silver. Hey, I'll take it.......

Holy Crap! you caught a rod/reel???? Most use a rod/reel to catch fish.
It does look to be in good condition.

Bob, the reel works smooth, like brand new! And the only VERY LIGHT wear is the very top of the reel, probably from laying the rod on the dock to wash it off after fishing.

This is going to be a perfect squidding setup
