The Cobia I've caught have all been in the gulf when down in the Keys, not sure what water temp etc they need or what would bring them North but I can say that the fish I saw had all the characteristics of the Cobia I've caught............

Check out this little paragraph out of the Cape Cod times.....I guess there are some Cobia in the area....

"Cape southside beaches and estuaries — Dowses continues to be the most consistent from the beach. Cotuit is so-so; you might find some schoolies early on an incoming. Keepers up in Bass River and fluke by the mouth.
Strip squid is working for the fluke. Salty Joe O'Clair was fluking off Bass River and caught a freakish 39-inch cobia. Which he then grilled in lemon garlic sauce."

Well, Brian, I think we may have identified my mystery fish LOL.....I really have no idea what else it could have been! You saw how bent-over my rod was! Heck, there were some caught last year even near Prudence!
