Captains Log 22 July 2007 The Last Ride Today Seaker had the honor and privilege to provide a brother sportsman his final ride. An associate had approached me and inquired about the expense and logistics for a special fishing trip. He went on that this gentleman loved to fish and would be in the accompaniment of several other “professional” fishermen from the area. My first reaction was sure and I would find them fish then it began to sink in. They were asking me to provide a platform so they could send off their friend and colleague in a special way. A memory maker that had him once again on board a fishing vessel with his buddies just doing what guys do. There was talk of dancers and all types of exotic entertainment but when it came time it was just the guys. Doing what guys do. Taking a boat ride, hoping to find a willing fish or two, breathing in the sea air and getting some of nature eye candy along the way. We met at the marina and I made the call to head to Race Point in Provincetown. I was told by the “pro’s” that I was nuts. Who would run all the way to P Town for a half day charter? I said that I had given this much thought and selected the location not based upon economics or time lines but on my heart. I knew the fishing was great and the views of Race Point, Wood End, The Bath House are spectacular. Running North in the early morning with the rising sun on your cheek is a great way to start the day. The North winds were still rather calm and when they did come up we would surf them home like a cyclist with his back to the wind. My friend also said we didn’t need a mate and they would bring all food and beverage. I felt if we were to do this right then Cappy Say would be by my side as always if for no other reason then his big grin Our mission was accomplished. Our guest of honor stated it just felt so good to breath the sea air and smell the smells of the sea. He retired to the fighting chair for the ride home where he drank it all in. He fell asleep with the sun in his face and the wind at his back He awoke as we entered the canal and gave me a huge hug and handshake back at the dock..We didn’t say another word to one another Didn’t have to Seaker Out! | ||

| Classy, Vin, very classy. Though we have not met (I did say "hi and asked how you did" on the way by as you were waiting for gas in Falmouth on Saturday) you impress me as a person. Nice post with a very professional and discrete level of detail. If you come across that man again, please tell him "God Bless." Mike | ||

| Vin, Your stand up guy. My Uncle is going through the same thing and I'm trying to get him out between the chemo. He's an avid freshwater guy and wants to get out on the salt for everything that you stated above. Proves one thing, life is precious and live every moment to the fullest.
