Thumbs down late weekend report

This past weekend was just not what i was hoping for. I feel i have been living a country song.

The weekend started off with having to put my 13 year old dog down on friday afternoon and that seem to set the stage for the following days.

Saturday morning was spent out on the bank with a good friend of mine and his 2 future sons in law. We drove down to Plymouth and when i got there i found smoking rear breaks in my truck . Ok stuff happens.

So the Plan was to get some ground fishing in and see if we could find some macks. We started around middle bank and got into the cod pretty good but only managed 15 keepers for 5 guys fishing. It was a 50 50 mix of cod and haddock and a 6 to 1 keeper to throw back ratio. We did see and talk to capt Curt out there and i think he did better then we did.
At the end of the day we did get into a really good whale show and some macks. We also found some of the biggest sand eels i have ever seen. They were so thick we were catching 3 and 4 of them at a time on the sibikis while mack fishing.. Never seen that before..
Got back into Plymouth and off my buddy went with his 2 sons in law problem is they left with all my clothes in there truck and all thier cell phones were dead . And i stink like haddock Sh!t And sh!t continues to happen .. Good thing i have a sence of humor. I just had to wash what i was wearing and get my clothes tomorrow right? Easier said then done

Sunday morning hoop and i desided to explore BB for so some feeding bass and only found small pods of birds over micro bass to 16". The later part of the morning hoop had his family out on his boat and i had a buddy from work with me on my boat. The plan was to find some macks in CCB and do some livelining, Then call it an early day so i could run home to get my clothes. sounds like a plan right? NOT
Well The macks were just no were to be found around the east end. I did talk to Capt Vin on seaker also out with his family also looking for the macks but there was very little to be found.

Hoop managed to scrape up a few dozen in a few hours and i was able to come up with 15 or so. We headed over to barnstable to try our luck there but the bass we just not willing to play. Hoop had a few good fish on that came unbuttoned and i went 2 for 2 1 fish was 29 and the other was 33.

Hoop left with his family a few hours before we did and just as he got home and finished cleaning up he got a call from me.

Around 6:30 i was about 5 miles from the east end and spun a prop hub.

So there i sat at the mercy of mother nature. Well by the time "hoopa towboat" got back out and gave me a tow into Sandwich marina it was after 9:30. Next problem was my truck and trailer was in BB on the other end of the canal.

So hoop drives me over to get my truck and trailer and i head back to Sandwich. I get to sandwich back down the ramp, load the boat and as i am pullin out the friggin whinch strap snaps WTF. (Thank god for the safty chain)

Well after a little micky mousing and a fancy fishing knot to secure the strap to the hook i finaly got out of the water at 10:30

By the time i was out of the water and parked in the driveway it was after 11:00. I had had enough so i called it a weekend..

Monday morning got up early cleaned the boat and gear ran to West marine and got a new prop hub replaced it and drove home in my stinky smelly wet and greasy clothes.. a good shower and i'm in bed..

Murphy was not enjoying a holliday weekend off.. He spent it with me

Edge, I feel for ya!!! Had a few of those days in the past!!! Ever seen a grown man cry

Better now than when the Tuna bite is hot & heavy. Get'cher self a spare prop, winch strap and you'll be good to go.

Hoopa, I'm having my wife change the name on the check I was sending out for SeaTow to "Hoopa Tow"..........do you cover RI too??!!!

Sounds like something that I will look at everytime I think I'm having a bad day. It can always be worse!!

At least you were able to make it home. With everything that happened it sounds like you still kept all your fingers & toes! Trying to help find the silver lining.
