Lords Point Blues

Last couple of mornings, Taylor Blues have been cutting up baitfish and small squid in the Lords Point area of Stonington CT. Taylor Blues are bigger than snappers, but smaller than harbor blues; typically around 1.5 to 3 pounds. Last week full sized blues passed through the area but 99% of the time its luck that you just have to be there when the big ones pass through. The big guys do not seem to stick around for long and they pass through like an express train. However, the Taylor Blues seemed to have taken up residence here, at least for now, although their exact feeding times stills remains a mystery to me. They could start any time time of the day, but morning or dusk will put the odds in your favor.

Word of caution, if you do not have local knowledge of the Seven Sisters area of Lords Point, you would be risking your lower unit if you chose to move into it. Seven Sisters is the name given to seven rocks so named by some unknown person, who could not count. I was out there fours years ago in my rowboat, at the ebb of a moon low tide, and observed that the name should be changed to "Eleven Sisters". Many of these rocks are submerged just below the mean water mark waiting to nail you.
