Marilyn Jean Charters 1st Trip In March

After a quick call to Steven last night confirmed that the guys wanted to go dispite the windy conditions. We baited up the boat and left the dock at 7am . The winds had not been to high all night but as usual Mother nature turned the fan on around day break. The guys had a comfortable ride out with the sea at our back. We fished a few drops offshore of 17 with no luck on the crabs for Tog, not even a short. The Ling fishing did not fare much better with just 8 decent Ling landed for 4 anglers. By around 1pm the guys had had enough even though it wasnt too bad on the hooks the sloppy conditions and less than stellar fishing did us in , so we headed back. Well since I started with the nice ride out I will end with the rough ride home . And it was a rough ride.

I guess the cameras getting a rest

Hi Capt,

Nothing ventured nothing gained. I hope all the repairs and new modifications went well. Now you are ready for a new season.

Neil

At least you got out and it was better than staring at the water from shore like us LOL.
Capt. Neil, don't want to hijack the thread but see your avitar. What is the proposed NY regs for fluke this year? Attended the CT meeting and what I heard was it's not too promising. Wondered if you had any info from DEC?

Bob & Mag,

There are all sorts of rumors. Anything from 1 to 4 fluke around 19". Length of season is all over the Universe. DEC usually waits till the last minute to let the word out. I don't even think about it anymore. DEC is going to do what they want. I refuse to worry about what they will do.

I posted to their site that I want the longest season possible. I saw what happened at Captree Boat Basin last year. The season ended Sept 12 and from then on most of the pb's sat idle at the dock. The whole situation from the feds down smells worse then an over loaded pig sty. Then throw in those national environmentalists with all the rich folks millions, UGH, gotta change the subject.

The good news for me is that as I get older and older I enjoy running others boats as much as fishing. I just enjoy being on the water.

I wish there was a way to have identical regs for LI Sound regardless of what state you came from. The same for the NY BIght for the NY'ers and NJ'ers. Seems to me it would make life much easier.

Can't wait to see what happens if CT passes a salt water license. Will Ny'ers have to get a CT license to fish there. I guess it is all about money!

Take care.

Capt Neil
