Lobstah Overdue Report - INHERITANCE 10-12-08 Mixed Bag

Just my dad and I.

Figured on early Bass, then Toggin' after. Brought a few eels, a gallon of crabs, and ourselves. Looked quick for pogies, having reports of them popping up sporadically here and there. No love on the pogies.

Headed down the bay and found a TON of surface life in front of Bonnet, birds EVERYWHERE. I called Brian (Albatross) and let him know, so he screwed down the bay to get in on it LOL.

I threw a pencil popper out that I got from Armand, and started getting slammed by blues. Threw a couple in the box for the smoker the next day. We started marking some bass on the bottom in a few spots along there and we dunked some eels. My father had one nice runoff, but didn't connect. The rest of the blues were all chop chopped, not getting past the blues, plus I landed another blue on an eel. Surface action was now dead for the most part and we weren't marking the bass like before.

We wrapped up and re-rigged for toggin' while we headed to one of our spots. We got on the hook and talked to Brian, who was in shallower water. He made a move over near us in a little while, just when the bite started for us. We pulled in some nice quality fish and had our limit in no time Granted that was only 6 for the 2 of us LOL, but they were nice

We also managed a few nice seabass, and a bunch of throwbacks.

Oh yeh, I also pulled in a nice brownback Yep, a nice keeper fluke on a crab there

Finished out our gallon of crabs and called it a day, releasing several more togs.

This was a WARM day, certainly NOT normal toggin' weather! But what a nice day out! 62 degree water.

Final Tally:

6 Togs
3 Seabass
3 Blues
1 Fluke

Bunch of seabass throwbacks, and a few tog throwbacks. Nice mixed bag

Heading back, we went up the west passage to visit the SEALS off Fox Island. My father had been seeing them the past week or so swimming past the house, and sure enough, one was sunning on the rocks. A sure sign of cooling water.
